This type of care can be provided in various settings, including private residences, nursing homes or residential facilities, and contracted inpatient facilities or hospitals, making it flexible and accessible.
  • Inpatient Hospice Care – Inpatient hospices are facilities that provide a level of care and relief required by patients who are terminally ill and can help to support families as they cope with the process of grief, death, and loss. The patient is transferred to a contracted nursing facility, hospital, or inpatient hospice unit. When the symptoms are controlled, the patient may return home.
  • Respite care – Respite care is a type of hospice care that is provided to patients to give their primary caregivers a break from their caregiving duties. It is a temporary service designed to provide relief and support to caregivers who may be feeling overwhelmed or exhausted. Patients may receive care in a contracted facility or hospice inpatient unit for up to five days.
